About Variants

mulfycrowh , 01-09-2021, 12:29 PM
Hi everyone.
My schematic is made of several sheets.
It is not annoted yet.
As I declare some components "Not Fitted" (or "Fitted") on a sheet, other components from other sheets are modified too.
Do you see any reason?
Same problem when the schematic is annoted.
Thanks.

Make sure competent IDs are unique,
It may happen when you copy-paste a sheet, and as far as I know, the variant setting is after annotation.

Why do mean with competent IDs?
robertferanec , 01-11-2021, 02:41 AM
@mulfycrowh Each component in AD used to have Unique ID (e.g. if you double click on a component in AD17, you would see it - it was also possible to reset these IDs).

However, I can't find it in AD21? Is it now hidden somewhere .. or do they do it differently .. or am I looking at wrong place?

PS: I have not had the kind of problem which you have, but @JohnsonMiller's idea may help

I have noticed that:
If I remove the component on a sheet and place again the same one, I don't have any trouble.

I was in the same condition, the problem is the Unique ID, try to reset it, no change in your schematic is needed. Which version of Altium you are using?
mulfycrowh , 01-11-2021, 07:08 AM
I'm using Altium 19. How do you proceed to reset the Unique ID?
JohnsonMiller , 01-11-2021, 07:56 AM
I do not access AD19, but in AD17 it is located at tools -> Convert -> Reset Component Unique IDs..

Same location in AD19.
I have a quite big schematic with several variants.
It seems to be OK.
