Layers on Power Switching Supply

Hi people. I want to know why would you use 6 layers in the PCB schematic on Fedevel's first course. Can I use just one layer and make my PCB at home? Also, is the "reflow solderind" supposed to be at the PCB house? Can I just solder the components with a soldering station? Sorry for the newbie questions, and THANKS A LOT!
Nico.

Hi @nicolas.logioia. I used 6 layers as demo for mutlilayer PCB layout. It can be done on less layers, however I am not sure if I would go down to 1 layer - that may not pass EMC and I am not really sure how good the output voltage would be.
The board can be soldered at your LAB, you do not need anything special, just be sure you are able to solder down the chip (you may need a hot air gun):

Thank you @robertferanec !! The course is fantastic. I'll do my own project later and then I'll surely go on Making your own board!
