Length Matching

P , 02-15-2026, 02:14 PM
Hi everyone,

I have a workflow question about length matching in Altium, specifically for T-branch routing. I'm currently applying what I'm learning in the Advanced PCB Layout course to my own high-speed board project (ZettBrett).

Let's say I routed a branch on the top layer, and it is exactly 55 mils long. Now, I need to route the matching branch on the bottom layer and make it exactly 55 mils as well.

Is there a shortcut or a specific setting during "Interactive Routing" that automatically stops/locks the trace exactly at the target length (like 55 mils) while I'm actively routing it? Or is the standard industry workflow to just route the connection directly (which might be shorter), and then use the "Interactive Length Tuning" tool to add accordions until it hits that target length?

Any tips on your personal workflow for matching T-branches efficiently would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think Allegro has some kind of "virtual points" you can use for this (you would place them where the VIAs are). But I have not heard if Altium has this, I do not follow Altium changes and updates, so I am not sure if they have add something. When I did that I just had to do it manually
