Example for 6-layer controlled impedance stackup
IgorStojanovic , 10-29-2019, 10:57 AM
Hi all,
I need to design Gigabit Ethernet switch board using 6-layer PCB stackup. It requires 50ohm single ended and 100ohm differential impedance matching. I would be very grateful if someone can suggest some suitable example of such stackup. I know that the best practice is to ask manufacturer to suggest, but I am in a bit specific situation that I should suggest stackup, and manufacturer will follow it (I am limited to certain manufacturer). The suggested stackup should have reasonable trace width and distance between tracks within a pair. I worked with stackups that suggest over 0.25mm trace width for 50/90 ohm impedance, but I think it is too wide geometry for this project.
There were several examples on welldone blog, but it is currently no displaying pictures (

Thank you in advance.

- Sorry about the blog. I had to move it from my server and not everything was moved correctly. We will be fixing it in coming days.
Attached is the image from the web. Hope it helps.
