Scripts in what tool?

@pal what scripts? You may need to be more specific about what you are trying to achieve and in what tool.

currently I use Intercept software, no specific requirement, I see scripting one of the skills good to have for PCB Designer, is it true ?
was not sure if there is a common scripting language between all the PCB software or it is specific to PCB software, from your comments looks like it is specific to tools.
wanted to learn hence asked.

Well, I have written scripts for Altium, but that is mainly because I am also a software engineer and want some more specialist functionality not standard in Altium.

"I see scripting one of the skills good to have for PCB Designer, is it true ?" - No, I doubt more than 1% of PCB designers (or EE) use (write) scripts. The use of scripts is more dominant with Eagle, but that tool is just not as advanced as i.e. Altium.

Besides, languages and controllability vary large between the tools.
Disadvantages with scripts:
- They may fail with a new release of the tool (maintenance)
- The tool may incorporate the functionality in a new release, making the script obsolete.

I have had similar experience as @qdrives, I do not know many hardware design engineers really using scripts.

Even I can do some programming (I created a video about writing a script for Cadence Allegro: https://youtu.be/qY_MK-_1VWE ) I do not really use scripts. There are sometimes some specific things where scripts could be useful, but often it is just faster to do the job manually directly in the tool (as trying to write a script for it). Unless it is a task or job what you need to do over and over.
