Board to Board Connector

sheldor , 05-24-2024, 02:36 PM
Hello, I'm a new designer and I am designing a system. I need 2 different cards for the system. I need to connect 2 pcb's with a board to board connector. I tried DF9 but it doesn't look very reliable since the system sometimes need to work under vibration, shock etc. sometimes. Do you have any suggestions for a connector with 15-17 pins 0.8-1.27mm pitch and locking mechanism? Thank you all already.

You are forgetting one of the most important board to board spec/requirements: what (total) height between the boards.
If you mention "locking mechanism" there are 2 things:
1) What other mechanical mounting is between the 2 boards?
2) Positive? Friction? Screw?

I have used samtec for board to board connectors. also as @QDrives mentioned, you may need to add screws - that is one of the most standard solutions for these situations.

my first solution was using double connectors to match them but it didn’t seem very solid. i didn’t use screws or something do you guys suggest that?

We do not know what to suggest as we do not know what is required.
There are many thing to consider when designing electronic products. It is never just a PCB.
I would rarely trust on a board to board connector to make the only (mechanical) connection, unless you are talking about a piggyback type board.
