So, I designed and manufactured this PCB, and I soldered it up. I am trying to connect the esp32-s3 to the aurdino IDE, but when I plug it in via usb-c, it for some reason is not being recognized (as in, its as if I am not even plugging it in).

I just want to make sure its not a schematic error and is something else.

Where is your pull-up / down on the USB line to indicate what you are?

And even though I am almost always a metric guy, schematics are best in 100mil grid.

Yeah, I get told that a lot buts it’s because of copy and pasting from different schematics sheets

Even on a board with those 5.1k resistors attached to CC1 and CC2 to ground I still don’t get any readings

No, I am talking about the 1.5k(?) Pull-up/down on D+/- to indicate low, full or high speed.

what kind of cable / connector do you use? looks like this connector only has 1 pair of USB? maybe did you try to flip the cable?

I tried 5 different cables, I am confident it is not the cable

Havent thought of it and Im not quite sure how to implement this, but I definitely will try to for the next iteration

It is **not** optional, it is a requirement for the host to detect the peripheral.

I swear I have seen USB-C's used to connect to hosts before that didnt include these

USB-C is just a connector.

You are using USB 2 connections in that connector
