I just have a general question about hardware design when it comes to working in a team.

When working on a fairly significant board, such as say the motherboard of a computer or the logic board of an iPhone, how do multiple people work on the same PCB?

I see teams of several people working on a single project sometimes but I don’t understand when it comes to the PCB layout how multiple people can be working on it.

Can anyone just clarify for me how that works?

when I used to work in a company, we did copy and paste e.g. do this regulator page, once the layout is done copy and paste the layout (if needed also components or their position) to the master project.

Don't the high end EDA tools allow multiple peoples working on the same design at once?
Anyhow, I never worked in such teams, as I did all the design for the product myself.

I understand that it is not an online co-design, the designers work locally on their computers and then merge their work.
