PMIC POWER UP SEQUENCE

KingVita89 , 04-07-2017, 09:42 AM
Hi,

I do have question about power sequencing in i.MX6 design e.g. on open rex an extra PMIC like MMPF0100NPAEP is used which managed the power up sequence. On Rex Module there are some power regulators but how is here the start up sequence managed?

Any advice?

Maybe this can help you (basically, you can program power sequencing inside the PMIC): http://www.imx6rex.com/open-rex/soft...d-programming/

I am aware of that but unsure about how to managed start up sequence if not using external PMIC. Is there a build in PMIC in the i.MX6 processor? How would I configure this?

I think in Rex Modul it's done without external PMIC or is there one on the baseboard?

You use Power Enable and Power Ok signals of regulators to put them into a power sequence (be aware, not every regulator has these signals). For example use Power Enable to start 3V3 regulator and then use Power ok of 3V3 to enable 1V5, then use Power OK of 1v5 to enable next regulator. If you have a look at the Power sequencing diagram included in the iMX6 Rex module schematic you will understand how it is done (see page 18): http://www.imx6rex.com/wp-content/up...-Schematic.pdf
