How to filter tracks routed over the board that goes to connector to reduce CM current on it ?

Hello all,

From "How to Achieve Proper Grounding - Rick Hartley - Expert Live Training (US)", at about 1:04:00, all ICs routing to connector MUST be placed very close to their respective connector. Because, if trace is too long, there will be common mode current in circuit. And if we don’t filter before going to the connector, common mode energy will couple into that and go into the next board or worse, going to a cable and drive the cable as an antenna and you will get EMI field...

But how can we "filter" before going to connector ? Using a capacitor or other things ? Is there some rules to choose right components / values for that ?

For my project, I can place the IC very close to connector but I would like to know how enchance my design 😉

Thanks you !

How to filter depends on the signal.
But could be common mode choke and Y capacitor or snubber.
