Gerber File Edit

brucesun , 11-27-2019, 08:27 AM
Hi Robert,

I have the gerber files of a PCB board and I'd like to change some traces of the board. Is it possible to import the gerber files to OrCAD PCB as a project and edit it? Thanks.

It may depend on the format of the gerber files. If changes are simple, maybe the files could be edited in Gerber editor?

It looks like Allegro should be able to import "Artwork" (gerberfiles generated from allegro), but I am not sure about all the other formats.

Here I found something what could maybe help:

Hi Robert,

I believe the gerber files I have are not generated by any ECAD software since there is no schematic for it. The only source file we have for this are the Solidworks part model.

I tried to export the board outline from Solidworks part to DXF file and import to OrCAD PCB but when I changed to 3D view to verify it failed to show the correct board shape.

Do you happen to know any software that could convert DXF files to gerberfiles?

Thank you very much.

I have never done anything like that, so I am not sure what is the best solution
